Double-side it! Optimize the Potential of your Business Card

By Logo Design Next

One of the biggest mistakes most entrepreneurs tend to make about their business cards is that they ignore its back side falsely believing that viewers are too lazy to turn it backwards.

The primary focus of any marketing campaign, whether it is a color business card, custom-made brochure, flyer, or even a postcard is to make the sale. The back side of your business card is that piece of advertising real-estate which has been left untapped due to the business owner’s unsubstantiated beliefs.

Remember that in the advertising and design industries, one of the main objectives of the designer is to optimize the use of the available spaces without making the design look too busy and tacky. Empty back sides of full color business cards, even the ones developed by professional stationery design companies, are considered a waste of perfectly good promotional space.

So what can be done with such a lucrative advertising spot?

Well for starters, it can be used to build upon, as well as confirm your sales pitch. You can expand your selling sentences starting from the front and continue them on to the back side of the business card. This way, you can build upon a broader, more solid foundation of your overall message in front of your target audience.

You can also employ that space to elaborate upon your message which has been provided in a summary on the front. This can be done by quoting a testimonial from a satisfied client or customer. You can also briefly list down the services and products which you provide.

Another thing that you can do is to provide descriptive directions for people who want to visit your shop or office. A small map with your premises located in its center could also be featured in that space.

Just make sure that whatever you place there, it should be something which will work towards making that all-important sale. And do not forget to place your name on both sides of the business card, because you want it to be imprinted in your target audience’s memories.

Since you are employing funds, time and effort to your stationery design project, why not make the most of the vacant marketable spots? Just keep in mind that the most effective marketing collateral is the one which employs all available avenues to put forward your message.

And don’t forget that people always check out a business card from both sides!
